I enjoyed my time at the Broadberry. As an advertising student you’re not really shown images working on a smaller scale in a local business. It’s refreshing to work in an environment with people who are so dedicated to what they do and seem to be having a lot of fun doing it as well. Everyone was about their business, but also were very casual about it. Working under Erin and Lucas allowed me to soak up a lot of knowledge and experience about working in the live events space.

After my 12 weeks here I can say I’ve really enjoyed my time here at The Broadberry. Everyone always talks about working for an agency and always leaves out the local businesses and what they need. So for me it was interesting to have a small hand in what took place here this summer. I’ve taken the things I have learned in school and applied them the best I could here, and it’s true you can only really learn by a hands on experience in this field. I am grateful for getting the chance to be a part of this team and hope to take what I learned here and use it other places as well.

Megan — VCUBroadberry Intern

I’m glad I had a chance to work with a business that is a big part of the Richmond community and that I was able to work in an industry that I am interested in. I felt that my work and my tasks went beyond the typical intern duties and I was allowed to contribute a lot towards The Broadberry and I was able to be involved in a lot of shows and festivals. We were given opportunities to produce actual work like blog posts, social media posts, and design work. I felt that I got a closer view of what happens behind the scenes for marketing and advertising than I would have at a larger business or agency.

Cierra – VCU

My experience with the Broadberry was everything I hoped it would be and more. I learned the ins and outs of running a local business and music venue, and most importantly just how much every detail counts. The music was amazing, my work was interesting and the atmosphere was calm but energetic. I have done everything from writing blogs to planning special events to working festivals and much more. I am proud of what I was able to accomplish and all that I learned at The Broadberry. It is an experience I will take with me and appreciate throughout my career. I thank Erin and Lucas for giving me the opportunity.
