#MusicMonday Playlist — Austin’s Picks 03/06/17

Another week is here and so is another playlist! #MusicMondays

This weeks playlist comes from Broadberry intern Austin. This week we have a mix of local RVA metal, hard rock, funk, and a few oldie but goodies. Enjoy the jams!

Municipal waste- Sadistic Magician

Municipal waste is a Richmond metal band who has reached national scale in the metal scene. Staying true to brutal thrash metal, their head banging rifts attract all types of fans. These guys shred and I’m so glad I got to catch them when they performed here at the Broadberry. Fair warning if you see them live expect a high energy pit in the front, complete madness.

The Southern Belles- Roshambeaux

A local favorite of mine, The Southern belles offers a diverse style between southern rock and blue grass with a strong jam rock feel. These guys know how to get down and have been lighting up venues and bars across Richmond for a while now. For me the wicked piano jamming and bluegrass guitar riffs get my bones moving and wishing I was drinking out on the James. It’s been over a year since I last saw them live, but luckily they are coming to the Broad berry on June 10! Definitely a show I am not going to miss!

I AM KING/ CODE ORANGE- I had the pleasure to catch the code orange show here at the broad berry last month and I must say I really enjoyed the energy!!!  With an interesting blend of hardcore punk, metalcore, and a pinch of electronic sound effects, they bring a lot of power to the stage. The band has plenty of filthy breakdowns that get the crowds blood pumping. The rifts and drums are thick and heavy, that brings much to the table to anyone who can appreciate a good ole’ fashion sludge fest. I chose I AM KING to be on the list because I love the intensity of this track not to mention the chilling “Children of the Corn” vibe the music video gives off. It’s definitely worth checking out!
