Mosquito Cabaret
Mosquito Cabaret
Mosquito Cabaret is a folk & world-music sextet hailing from the waters of Norfolk, Virginia. Forming in the summer of 2017, the group set out to make music that knows no borders; with a melting pot of sonic qualities consisting of equal parts folk, punk, klezmer, humppa, rembetika, and so much more!
On October 11th, 2017 the band released their official debut single, "River King" to the world-- as it is now available everywhere digitally such as iTunes, Bandcamp, Spotify, and more!
Mosquito Cabaret has had numerous appearances on radio & podcasts through WHRO's, "Out Of the Box" program with Paul Shugrue, WPKN in Bridgeport, Connecticut with Cliff Furnald, KALX 90.7 FM in Berkley, California, Rootsworld.org & Taintradio program + the FolkCast & FreakOuternational podcasts.
Mosquito Cabaret has shared the stage with the Atom Age, Maid of Ace, the Toasters, Agent Orange, and many more!
Never skipping a beat, the swarm is growing as Mosquito Cabaret continues to play more and more shows and is currently recording their debut album!

What others are saying about Mosquito Cabaret....
“Mosquito Cabaret's name alone evokes an appropriately wild and dreamlike image that sums up their sound and performances: a buzzing, barefooted hodgepodge of gyspy jazz and theatrical punk. Not to be missed!” ~ Sarah Serrano, O’Connor Brewing Co.

"from gypsy-jazz, Polish polka, Irish-themed punk, and folk into one spectacular, blissful swinging bar party" ~ Jeff Maisey, Veer Magazine

"of immense delight in which to lose any sense of self-consciousness and just dance because there is no other option" ~ EmergingIndieBands.com

"it’s always worth pausing to appreciate a timeless and lament filled piece of folk music" ~ ListenWithMonger.blogspot.co.uk
My Son The Doctor
My Son The Doctor
MY SON THE DOCTOR has been bringing the music of eastern Europe to Richmond since 2006, when Boaz Rubin invited Louis Schwartz to sing and play guitar and percussion with a klezmer band he was trying to get started. We play regularly in Richmond and in the surrounding area. Our present line-up is Louis Schwartz on lead vocals and guitar, Allen Cole on clarinet, Ben Grondahl in clarinet, Stephen Frost on acoustic bass, and David Ellis and Janine Turner on percussion. We play an eclectic, infectiously danceable mix of Eastern European, Balkan, and Mediterranean folk musics, with an emphasis on Yiddish, Hebrew, and Romani traditions: Klezmer dance tunes, Yiddish folk and theater songs, Israeli folk songs, Chassidic songs, Ladino songs, contemporary and traditional Romani songs, and Balkan folk and pop. In addition to public performances, we're available for private parties and events of all kinds. For bookings, contact: Louis Schwartz:
